CAMP BADO DANGWA, Benguet— An online trader has filed charges of estafa/swindling and reckless imprudence resulting to physical injuries against an online buyer after she was duped by the suspects in Baguio City recently.
Chief Supt. Rolando Nana, Cordillera regional police chief identified the suspects as Carlo Hernandez “aka” Sonny Culimay Caballero, 40 years old, businessman, and his live-in partner, a certain Crisencia Bangdo Coytop, 27 years old, both residents of JA 298 Km. 4, La Trinidad, Benguet.
Joan Desear a resident of San Fabian, Pangasinan, in her statement to authorities said the incident at around 4:44 p.m. on December 28, 2018 along Legarda Road, Baguio City.
Desear said, on December 23, 2018, she posted online that her iPhone 8 worth P29,000 was for sale.
On December 28, Hernandez sent her a message that he is interested in buying the item. After agreements, Desear then traveled immediately to Baguio City to consummate the deal.
Desear and Hernandez, met at a waiting shed located at Phil-Am, Baguio City. Hernandez told Desear to follow him towards his parked vehicle along Legarda Road.
Upon reaching the vehicle, Coytop, who was in the front seat of the vehicle, handed an envelope allegedly containing the payment of the cellphone.
While the envelope was being handed to Desear, Hernandez reportedly started the vehicle and sped away, dragging victim which resulted to her injuries. Checking the envelop, the victim said it only contained pieces of paper.
The case is now under follow-up for proper filing of cases. – Larry Madarang
