VIGAN CITY– As part of the celebration of the Yuletide Season, the provincial government of Ilocos Sur opened ‘Pista sa Nayon.’

Pasko sa Nayon-themed display in front of the Provincial Capitol here showed the simple yet happy Christmas celebration of Filipinos.

During its launching on Dec. 3 here, Ilocanos and tourists enjoyed the music, lights and the Christmas display.

In his message read by Vice Gov. Jeremias Singson, Gov. Ryan Luis Singson said the central theme, “Pasko sa Nayon,” reminds everyone that reveling in the spirit of Christmas season does not need to be grand.

He reminded everyone that it reflects how the event came about—Jesus born in a manger, not in a hospital or an elegant household.

“I hope that amidst the merriments, you remember the real essence of Christmas which is not only receiving gifts but to commemorate the birth of our savior and to express utmost gratitude for surviving throughout the year,” Gov. Singson added.

Along with officials of the provincial government, the heads of national and provincial offices also attended the opening event. (JNPD/JMQ/PIA Ilocos Sur)
